As part of a series of 7-night voyages that Celestyal Journey has been offering in the Aegean Sea, the 1,260-passenger cruise ship has called on Kusadasi, Turkey, quite a few times. But despite having prior experience with the port, sometimes things still go wrong. This includes the main entertainment venue where evening shows are and the lounge areas.

This includes daytime and evening entertainment, including music in the lounge and the main evening show. If you don’t have the premium package, the waiters and waitresses in the restaurants and bars continuously try to upgrade you to the highest package. So much so that we wondered if they make a commission on each drinks package upgrade. Sports enthusiasts will love the morning yoga or Pilates classes (extra charge), and from 8 p.m. As well as the aforementioned bars featuring piano or live music, there’s mini-discos for young kids up to 12 years old, seventies-themed parties, and various adult discos.

Despite attempts by the crew to deploy the anchor, the vessel could not decelerate adequately, resulting in an impact with the concrete structure using its bow bulb. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries among passengers or individuals onshore, and the collision caused minor damage to both the ship and the dock structure. The ship is currently operating a 7-day "Idyllic Aegean Cruise" (itinerary April 13-20) roundtrip from Piraeus-Athens. However, its time sailing for Celestyal ends in September 2023, when it will be replaced by a much bigger ship -- Celestyal Journey -- which is almost double the size and has one of the key things Crystal is missing -- balcony cabins. Those booked on later sailings will be reaccommodated on the line's new ship, Celestyal Journey.

House wines and house beer are included with lunch and dinner, sodas by the glass, select juices by the glass, coffee, hot tea and iced tea, and mineral water. While the price may change depending on how many days your cruise is, expect a 7-day cruise to cost an additional $260 per person with the Enhance Fare on top of the cruise base fare. So if you are two guests in one room, both guests must add the Enhance Fare, not just one. Our cabin was a great size, and we enjoyed the balcony of our junior suite.

Remember, it’s a mid-size ship with affordable pricing, so the entertainment matches the cruising level. We were in a junior suite and enjoyed this option for breakfast and lunch whenever possible. A small area of the ship is dedicated to viewing printed photos from your days on board and in ports. If you decide you want to buy them, they are reasonably priced at $11 or so per print. Certain beverages are included with meals in the dining room and buffet.
